Meet Stevie

Stevie is a screenwriter and an archival researcher.

As an archival researcher, Stevie’s research was produced in the 2025 Kino Lorber Collection in collaboration with the Library of Congress on Wonder Dogs! She collaborated with the American Film Institute on two projects funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, “Women They Talk About” and “Behind the Veil.” Her research and writing are featured in AFI catalog entries beginning in 2021.

As a screenwriter, she writes scripts about women who break the mold. She holds a master's degree in film and television writing from Stephens College, the second-oldest women's college in the United States. Stevie has also worked as a reader for the Athena Film Festival, a competition and writers’ lab championing the diverse stories of women leaders. Coverfly named her in the top 1%, and Launchpad selected her as one of its top 50 writers. She is a two-time Austin Film Festival second-rounder and a semifinalist in the Filmmatic Inroads Fellowship.

Wonder Dogs!

Researcher (Uncredited)

Released in 2025 as Wonder Dogs! Canine Stars of the Silent Era, I worked as an uncredited researcher for Anthony Slide’s contributions. Using empirical research methods, I conducted detailed research for two silent-era films, 1926’s The Sign of the Claw and 1928’s The Sky Rider, for Kino Lorber’s DVD collection in collaboration with the Library of Congress. Located primary source materials with biographical information, production history, and extant footage using newspaper archives and film databases. All work was additionally contributed as essays and catalog records to the AFI Catalog of Feature Films.

AFI Collaborations

Working with the prestigious AFI research team, Stevie’s work highlights the historical contributions of BIPOC and female filmmakers in the American film industry. The American Film Institute Catalog of Feature Films reflects a legacy of film scholarship dating back to 1968.


  • Researcher & Writer

    As a hand-selected researcher, Stevie joined a team that researched 6,000 shorts, focusing on BIPOC and female filmmakers. I used primary sources to research lost and historic movies and write entries for the AFI catalog. Turner Classic Movies (TCM) purchased the research and essays for web copy, and I used it to introduce scheduled programs and movies. As part of our prestigious internship program, I taught college and graduate students to research lost and historical films. I also created and reviewed training materials for our department of professional catalog researchers and student interns.


  • Researcher

    Focused research about movies released from 1921 to 1925, adding the names of uncredited women in silent cinema. Stevie’s work investigated the claim that gender parity was achieved behind the lens before the “talkies.” She conducted in-depth historical research using primary sources and was formally invited back as the first intern to join the catalog team.
